Hunter Simms earned her Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law. During her time at St. John’s Law, she excelled academically, receiving the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship. Prior to her legal studies, Hunter graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the State University of New York Geneseo, where she distinguished herself as a Scholar in Residence and an Edgar Fellows Scholar. She conducted her capstone research on “Children in Foster Care: Socialization & Parenting,” demonstrating her commitment to understanding and addressing social issues affecting vulnerable populations.
Hunter gained practical legal experience during Law School as a Legal Assistant with us here at Zimmer, Mathiesen, and Associates. She also served as a Student Attorney at St. John’s Law in the Child Advocacy Clinic, aiding in the representation of children in Family Court, highlighting her dedication to advocating for the rights of marginalized individuals.
Outside the legal realm, Hunter has contributed significantly to various advocacy organizations, including Citizens Campaign for the Environment and the Adoptive and Foster Family Coalition of New York. Hunter is deeply committed to community service, dedicating her time and expertise to initiatives such as pro-bono Public Service Advertising campaigns with The Wetherall Company Public Service Advertising (TWCPSA). Her leadership and contributions have been recognized with awards such as the 2015 Charles Pulaski Environmental Award for her outstanding volunteer work.
